The settlement of Nanjival is first recorded as "Nansevall" in 1558 (b1). The name is Cornish and contains the element nans 'valley' and an unknown second part (b5). Nanjival is now deserted (b3). The 1963 OS map records dwellings at SW 586 361 (b2) but more recent surveys indicate that only one building, probably a modern structure, now exists at the site (b4). Pascoe records abandoned dwellings (parts of Nanjival) at SW 5872 3665, SW 5865 3665 and SW 5865 3644 (b7).

The settlement of Nanjival is first recorded as "Nansevall" in 1558 (b1). The name is Cornish and contains the element nans 'valley' and an unknown second part (b5). Nanjival is now deserted (b3).
