We are glad to hear that Lieut. Nor-
man Hosken, one of the intrepid sons of
Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Hosken, of Pulsack,
Hayle, is making progress after his
serious aeroplane smash.   It may be re-
membered that Mr. Hosken (who has
several times flown to France and served
in the air at Salonika) went up in a new
machine recently, the engine of which
was apparently working all right when it
left the ground.   On reaching a height
of about 100 feet; however, the engine
stopped dead and the ’plane crashed to
the ground, so severely injuring the
young pilot that his case was deemed
critical.   For three weeks he remained
unconscious, but a few days ago came
out of this state and it is hoped he is
now out of danger.  It is possible if the
machine had been some thousands of
feet up the current of air might have re-
started the propeller, or the pilot might
have had time to coax the engine; but
new machines are always more or less
uncertain.   Some months ago Lieut.
Norman Hosken flew to Cornwall on
another machine.   He has had a large
experience of flying and has been one of
the cheeriest heroes of the air the Air
a complete recovery. [sic]
