eyes full, short corn-coloured hair. Dress: Low white frock with short sleeves. He is
riding a hobby horse, and on the sinister side there is a yellow wall with a square window,
and a pink curtain. Min. Square. ‘‘ Charles Davies Giddy, 1812,” on the back, and
at the sinister bottom corner: “‘ AS (or AP) 1812.”
8. REV. EDWARD GIDDY, M.A. H.L. Body and face both full, blue eyes, “ cupid
bow ” shaped mouth, scanty white hair, with locks over the ears. Dress: Black coat
with high collar fastened, black waistcoat also fastened, and above white stock, soft collar
and turned over just above. Russet red curtain behind. M. Age 7o. ©. 1800. It is
the copy of a portrait by Henry Howard, R.A., painted in 1814 by Mary Anne Gilbert.

Edward, son of John Giddy, who died in 1759, by Anna Collins his wife ; born 1734;
married in 1765 Catherine, daughter of John Davies by Elizabeth Phillipps of Tredea,
who succeeded her brother Henry Davies in the property in 1760. He died in 1814.
9. DAVIES GILBERT, D.C.L., P.R.S., F.S.A. H.L. Body full, face and grey eyes turned
towards the dexter, short grey hair, brushed back, slight side whiskers. Dress: Black
coat, high velvet collar to it, high stock and ruffle. It has a shield of arms in dexter
corner. Or, a fess engrailed azure (vert ?) between in chief a lion passant gules, and in
base three torteaux two and one; granted to Giddy, 11th June, 1770, and also ‘‘ Davies
2. Age about 13, in the top dexter corner : Catherine Gilbert ; married 17th April, 1834, 1° John S. Enys of Enys.
3. Age about 10, in the centre : Mary Susannah Gilbert.
4. Age about 8, in the lower sinister corner : Anne Gilbert ; married a Mr. Owen.
5. Age about 5, in the lower dexter corner : Hester Elizabeth Gilbert ; married to William Sancroft Holmes of Gawdy Hall ; died 1885.
They were children of Davies Giddy Gilbert, M.P., and Mary Anne his wife, only daughter and heiress of Thomas Gilbert of East-Bourn. On the bottom of the picture in front : “ Adam Buck 1823,” and " Buck of Upper Seymour St., 1823.
