CAMBORNE TRIBUTES
TO DECEASED JUSTICES
The chairman (Mr. J. C. Penberthy) at Camborne-Redruth sessions on Tues-day made sympathetic reference to the deaths of Mrs. E. M. C. Holman, of Carbis Bay and Mr. J. C. Bickford- Smith, of Trevarno, High Sheriff of Corn- wall. Mr. Penberthy remarked that the late Mr. Bickford-Smith was appointed justice in 1909, was a regular atten-dant at the courts and his services were very valuable. Mrs. Holman was the first lady appointed to that bench and, since 1934 when redistribution of areas took place, she had been a member of that bench.—The court stood in silence as a mark of tribute to the memory of the justices.
