The Mount’s Bay Inn, Wherrytown.
Mr. J. Vivian THOMAS applied for a temporary authority
in respect of the Mount’s-bay inn, Wherrytown, for Mary
Ann Hawke, widow of the late tenant.—Sup. VERCOE said
he was instructed that women of rather loose character
frequent this place and applicant associated with them. It
was not quite satisfactory te him the reports he heard, and
if the license could bs transferred to the son it would be
much better.
Mr. THOMAS said he bad ne idea of this. His clients
were the Redruth brewery company.
Sup. VERCOE said he had only just been informed of it.
—Mr. THOMAS said he would report the statement of the
superintendent's to his clients.—The CHAIRMAN said it
would be well to see if the son is willing to become the
tenant.—Mr. Thomas said he would find out.
After a short interval Mr. THOMAS said Mrs. Hawke said
this was the first she had heard of any misconduct and she,
of course, naturally wished to have the license in her own
name, as it was her only means of support.—After a few
further remarks the bench decided to grant the application.
