Manor of Kestle and Cruplight (St. Anthony-in-Meneage, St. Keverne, Manaccan, Constantine, St. Martin-in-Meneage).
Purchased 1796 for £6,500 from Francis Penrose and Thos Trewren, in moieties (WH1/404 and 413). Deeds include title deeds from 1720 which explains division into moieties.

Purchased 1796 for £6,500 from Francis Penrose and Thos Trewren, in moieties (WH1/404 and 413). Deeds include title deeds from 1720 which explains division into moieties.

 

John Kestell of Kestell died in 1719 leaving 2 daughters who inherited his land in moieties, his son Walter having died without issue. Margaret married Thos Langford, gent., who died in 1732, their moiety was mortgaged to Thos. Trewren. Ann Kestell married William Penrose; she died 1737 leaving her moiety to him. William also survived Margaret Langford, and remarried Margaret, daughter of Charles Vyvyan, who survived him and proved his will in 1763, (for details see "Ancient West-Country Familes" pp. 115 ff., and Vivian's Visitations p. 266).
