Thought to have originated as a corn mill, the property is situated well away from the nearest made-up road - in the bottom of the valley, through which flows the Angarrack Stream.

There appears to be little documentation of the history of the property.

According to the county records office, a building has stood on the site since at least 1695. 

The present house has a stone recording the date 1786 and has been the subject of considerable expenditure in the works of restoration since the present owners acquired it in the late 1960 s.
