10th-11th century wheel-head cross | Trenython | PastScape Updates / NHRE Summary Report | May 2014



The remains of a 10th-11th century wheel-head cross situated south east of Trenython Convalescent Home by a rockery. The head is 1ft. 6ins. in diameter and the total height, with shaft, is 3ft. 2ins. The original site is unknown. The Cornish Magazine of 1898 states that it was found at the bottom of a dried up pond at Four Turnings, Castledore, opposite The Smithy, and that the cross was found when the pond was being deepened. It is not noted by Langdon.
