- I believe Nancekuke is part of Illogan parish and I have taken(and obtained) a lot of photos of it for my forthcoming book, Mawla, Nancekuke, and More About Porthtowan and Towan Cross. Here are some of the Bennetts family who lived at Forest Gate. The Rosevears lived on the left side and the Bennetts on the right (the latter had 13 children!)Forest Gate, Fowlshouse Field, Ivy Bennett collecting water from the shute for them to drink, snow at Nancekuke, Nancekuke School (still standing and now a private house).Forest Gate was demolished when the Aerodrome was being built 1939/40. Seven farms and six small holdings were knocked down and the people never got their land back, only very poor compensation. I have met and talked to many of the families though; they still remember their close-knit community. All reactions:
- Helen BalutOk ,pretty sure John & Anne.Do know,my cousin Claire Mitchell, can confirm names on here,as it was her who kindly found newspaper cutting & i copied.Got to say,all the names slowly pickling brain cells. All the best.
