Carriers

MINING DISTRICT.
TO CARRIERS
WE, whose names are hereto subscribed, considering the very heavy expense attending the Repairs of the Highways in the Mining District, and the great damage done to them by the carriage of unlimited weights, on narrow wheels, are of opinion that the general use of wide wheels, if made flat and cylindri-cal,* would greatly tend to remedy the evil, without subjecting the carriers to any material inconvenience ; and with that view we consider it a duty we owe to the public, as well as to ourselves, To give Notice, That from and after the First of October next, we will not employ any carrier with Carts and Waggons who shall not keep and use for the carriage of Coals, Copper Ore, Tin and Tin Stuff, Timber, Iron, Cordage, Candles and other Articles, wheels having the Tire of the Fellies, at least six-inches in breadth.
