Patricia Sanderson Yes - a blast from the past. And if I remember correctly, the "ferry boat" was a rowing boat.

Peter Day Yes been over the river in his boat. Known locally, as I recall, "The Vulgar Boatman" on account of his colourful language.

Graham Coad Makes him our Great Great Uncle then. I just remember Granny Sowden, seemed mainly grumpy and running Peggy ragged.

Phillip Roscorla Yes. Mother was Nicholas' daughter. His sister, was Peggy's mother. Peggy was the daughter of her first marriage and francis, Jenny;s dad was the son of the second - I think! It can get very confusing what with the Nicholas John, the Nicholas Johns and a few others. Caroline has done a family tree. Look up ancestry.co.uk and look for the Roscorla family tree. makes interesting reading, if you have the time.

Peter Day You had to be careful who you slagged off in Hayle as you were probably talking to their cousin.

Sue Maxfield my mum and dad used to take me and my brother Roger across on the boat to Lelant, I can remember once we had to bale the boat out as it was filling with water in the bottom as we went along, I thought we were going to drown.

Ann Louise I can remember seeing people in the boat and being told they were having to bale out the boat as they came across! That must have been late 50s!
