DEATH MR. L. V. GARLAND, OF FHiLACK A WELL-KNOWN CATTLE EXHIBITOR With a regret that will shared many we announce the death of Mr. Leonard V. Garland, of Greenbank Towans, Phillack, which occurred on Sunday night, after an illness lasting some three or four years. Every sympathy will be extended to his widow and daughter, Miss Frances Garland, in their bereavement. Mr. Garland was successful exhibitor of shorthorn cattle at the Royal Show, the Royal Cornwall, and other leading shows. He bred from the herd of shorthorns formerly owned by Mr. W. J. Hosken, Pulsack. He took over the poultry business of Mr. Hosken at Gwithian Towans, which conducted an extensive scale, and supplied eggs and poultry to the Union- Castle line Steamship Company. He was sixty-one years of age.

With a regret that will  be  shared by many we announce  the death of Mr: Leonard   V.  Garland. of Greenbank Towans,  Phillack which occurred on Sunday night,  after  an  illness lasting some three or four years.

Every  sympathy  will  be  extended   to his widow and daughter, Miss Frances Garland, in their bereavement.

Mr. Garland  was a successful exhibitor of shorthorn cattle at the Royal Show, the Royal Cornwall, and other leading shows. He bred from the herd of shorthorns for-merly owned by Mr. W. J. Hosken, of Pul- sack.     He  took over the poultry business of Mr.  Hosken  at  Gwithian Towans, which he conducted on an extensive scale, and supplied eggs and poultry to the Union- Castle Line Steamship Company.

He was sixty-one years of age.


FUNERAL AT PHILLACK.

The funeral took place at Phillack churchyard   on  Wednesday  morning,  of Mr. Leonard Vezey   Garland.  of The Towans,     Rev.  A.  H.  Butler   Reeve (rector) and Rev. H. A Benaton (Gwinear) officiated, and Miss Andrew was the organist. The service was choral.
The principal mourners were Mr. Gar-land  and  Miss  Garland (brother and sister) and Miss F. Garland (daughter).
Others present included Col Ellis, Rev. W. G. W. Sara, (St. Veep),  Rev.  P.  E.  F. Berry,      Dr.   T.   Mudge   and   Messrs. Chris   Ellis,    C.  V.  Wills,   Herbert. Thomas  (Carbis Bay),   W.  F.  Blarney,   J. B. James F. A. Trott,  Ernest Pool, T. Reynolds (Marazion),  J. Jackson,  G. Gudge,  F.  Allen,  S. S. Spray   (represent-ing Barclays Bank), G. Gambling, F. Cur-now   (Ludgvan),   W.  Eddy,    (Angarrack), W. T. Blewett, T. Osborne, G. Harvey, A.. Williams,  Arthur Coad, John Coad, W. Hosking (representing Mr. Henry Rose-warne and  Mr.  Henry  Hosken, Truro),   N. J. Easterhrook, T. G. Hosking, D. C. Hos-king, W. Galloway, G. Hammond, E. G. Shovel,  T.  H. Rutter,     W.   H.  Rutter   and J. R. Rutter, W. J. Hosking (representing Cornwall  Farm  Produce  Association),  G. F. Tonkin, W. H. Williams, and   W. G. Horwell (representing Mr. W. E. Roberts, Penpol),.
Members of the staff who attended were Messrs. W. Sampson (foreman), and P. Sampson, P. Polkinghorne, H. Polking-horne, N. Polkinghorne, N. Dingle and R. Pascoe.
The bearers were Messrs. F. C. Coombe, A. T. Coombe, T. C. Boase, H. C. Nicholas, L. Oliver, S. Thomas, J. Williams, and W. S. Shepherd.
Messrs. E. T. Coombe and Sons were re-sponsible for the undertaking arrange-ments.
