FARM SALE AT PENZANCE.
PULSACK AND CARWYN OFFERED
BY AUCTION.
At the Central Hall. Penzance, on Thursday afternoon, Messrs. Robinson and Lane offered by auction the freehold farms Carwyn and Pulsack., Hayle.
A great deal of interest was manifested in the sale and there was a large attend-ance.
Carwyn contains about 133 acres, and comprises farm house, Carwyn Lodge, a cottage, accommodation for over 80 cattle, stables, barn, piggeries, etc.
Pulsack contains about 146 acres, and embraces three cottages, a convenient run of outbuildings, a well-appointed residence with conservatory, lounge, hall, ten rooms, bathroom (h. and c.) kitchen, scullery, etc.. garden, orchard, lawn tennis court etc..
Carwyn was offered first, and the open-ing bid was £3,500, followed by £3,750. and £4,000. Here the auctioneer offered to take £100 bids, and these were soon forthcoming, but there was a pause at .£4,200. Then a bid of £4,300. the auctioneer declining to take £50 bids at this point. At £4,300 the property was temporarily withdrawn.
Pulsack was then submitted, and the. opening bid was again £3,500. Bidding ran along briskly to £4,900, and then came £5,000. "Nothing near the value," declared the auctioneer, and then came an additional £50. and after a pause, £5.100, and £5,150.
Here the both farms were offered in one lot, and the auctioneer announced the opening bid as £9,450. but there were no further offers forthcoming.
Again they were tried separately, but there was no advance on £4.300 for Carwyn.
For Pulsack the bid of £5,150 was not increased.
Later in the afternoon both proper-ties were disposed of by private treaty. Mr.. Henry Glanville, of Rose-warne, Carnborne, purchased Carwyri. and Pulsar& was secured by Mr. Edwin Hosking, formerly of Rosevidlney, and now of Ninnes, Lelant. The purchase price was not disclosed in either case.
Messrs. Boase and Bennetts, Penzance, were solicitors for the vendors.
