Edward, son of John Giddy, who died in 1759, by Anna Collins his wife ; born 1734 ; married in 1765 Catherine, daughter of John Davies by Elizabeth Phillipps of Tredea, who succeeded her brother Henry Davies in the property in 1760. He died in 1814.
Giddy, 1806.” M. Age 50. c. 1805. It was painted by Mrs. Davies Gilbert after a picture by John Opie, which is in the possession of C. D. Gilbert at Trelisick in Cornwall. See No. 10.
Davies, son of Rev. Edward Giddy of St. Erith, Cornwall ; born in March, 1767, assumed wife’s name in 1817. He married 18th April, 1808, Mary Anne, only daughter and heiress of Thomas Gilbert of East-Bourn, Sussex, and died 24th December, 1840.
Mary Anne, only daughter and heiress of Thomas Gilbert of East-Bourn, Sussex, by Anne his wife, daughter of John Cossum of Hastings ; bom 1776 ; she married 18th April, 1808, Davies Giddy of Tredea, Cornwall, which gentleman assumed the surname of his wife’s family and became Davies Gilbert, M.A., F.R.S., F.S.A. She died 1845.
2. Age about 13, in the top dexter corner : Catherine Gilbert ; married 17th April, 1834, 1° John S. Enys of Enys.
3. Age about 10, in the centre : Mary Susannah Gilbert.
4. Age about 8, in the lower sinister corner : Anne Gilbert ; married a Mr. Owen.
5. Age about 5, in the lower dexter corner : Hester Elizabeth Gilbert ; married to William Sancroft Holmes of Gawdy Hall ; died 1885.
They were children of Davies Giddy Gilbert, M.P., and Mary Anne his wife, only daughter and heiress of Thomas Gilbert of East-Bourn. On the bottom of the picture in front : “ Adam Buck 1823,” and " Buck of Upper Seymour St., 1823.”
14. MRS. THOMAS GILBERT. H. and S. Body and face both turned partly towards the dexter, prominent nose, white powdered hair dressed high and curled, w'hite bow tied under the chin. Dress : Blue, a pointed lace ruff, white fichu and chinchilla fur collar. Min. Age 30. c. 1790.
Anne, daughter of John Cossum of Hastings ; married to Thomas Gilbert of East- Bourn, who died in 1782. She died 1807, aged 57.
Humphrey, third son of Thomas Henchman by Ann his wife, daughter of Robert Griffith, Constable of Carnarvon ; baptized 22nd December, 1592. He was Bishop of Salisbury 1660-63, and of London 1663-75. He married before 1630 Ellen, daughter of Dr. Robert Townson, Bishop of Salisbury. He died at the Bishop’s Palace in Aldersgate Street on 7th October, 1675, aged about 83.
Sarah, daughter of John Wogan by Elizabeth his wife, daughter of William Sancroft ; born 1709 ; married to Rev. Gervas Holmes, Vicar of Fressingfield and of Wigtoft, Co. Lincoln. She died in 1764.
Edith, daughter of Henry Robert Kingscote, second son of Henry Kingscote of Kingscote by Harriet his wife, daughter of Christopher Tower of Weald Hall, Essex ; married in 1877 to John Sancroft Holmes of Gawdy Hall.
