History:  The Redruth Brewery, Redruth, Cornwall, was founded prior to 1827 and operated by Neame & Foster until 1877, after which it was run by Neame, Foster & Cullingford. Redruth Brewery Co Ltd was registered in February 1887 asa limited liability company to acquire the business, along with that of W C Wickett & Co, at a purchase price of £62,750. The company was acquired in 1934 by J A Devenish & Co Ltd, Weymouth, Dorset, and its name was changed to Devenish Redruth Brewery Co Ltdin 1960. In 1977 it employed 150 staff and had 190 tied houses and 4 off-licence shops. After Devenish’s Weymouth brewery ceased brewing in November 1985,the Redruth Brewery became the sole supplier of beer for J A Devenish plc and the company’s name changed to Cornish Brewery Co Ltd.
