CORNISH PARISHES IN 1753 I. ST. ISSEY - Peter Pool

Trehane is recorded i n 1288 as the home of John Pycan, and a licence was granted i n 1427 to Otto Trehane, Isabella his wife, their children and servants to have divine service celebrated i n any suitable place i n Cornwall. T h i s could possibly refer to Trehane where, accord- ing to tradition, there was once a chapel, though there is no other record of one. Some years ago the house at Trehane was ravaged by fire; the stables were afterwards converted into a new dwelling and the ruins of the old stand open to the sky, i n a garden where a splendid Magnolia Campbellii flowers freely i n the spring.
