FUNERAL AT HAYLE.

  By the death of Mr. C. U. Whear, of Chapel Terrace, Hayle, a notable personality has been taken from our midst. Mr Whear passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday evening, after an illness which extended over some months.. With his ever bright and cheerful disposition, Mr. Whear spoke of his condition and the seriousness of it, but with courage he bore the illness without complaint, and it is with profound regret that we have to chronicle his death. He leaves a widow, daughter and two sons to mourn their loss, and sympathy will go out to the bereaved ones in their irreparable loss.

   The funeral took place at Phillack on Sunday morning. The Rev. W. Val. Wagner, vicar of Cury, and chaplain to the Cornubian Lodge 450, Hayle, officiated. Deceased was a member of Lodge No. 450, member of Hayle Mark Lodge No. 87, and Companion of the Hayle Chapter No. 450 for over 30 years. The Masonic funeral oration was read at the graveside by the chaplain in an impressive manner.

  The mourners present were Mr. P. A. Whear (son), Mr. W. C. Whear (grandson), Mr. R., Barnes (nephew), Mr. C. Uren (cousin). Mr. S. Head and Mr. E. Head (nephews), Mr. P. Barnes, Mr.. W. Caddy (brothers-in-lw), Messrs. W. T. Hall, W. Trevithick, W. R. Trevithick, J. Richards, W. Gilbert, Ralph; Mr. Oliver and Mr. G. H. Stiling, represented Foundry Wesleyan Church, Mr. C. Wills and Mr. N. Harvey (Messrs. Harvey and Co., Ld-), Messrs. H. Williams, H. Matthews, R. Williams, E.  Drew, T. Clemence, J. Whit-ford, J. F. Angove, J. Angove, S. Rowe, E. A. Rowe, Letcher, J. Harris, W. R. Colenso, W. Lawry, Kneebone, Chas. Harris, Dunstan, T. Ellis, J. Paynter, Hosking, F. W. Blamey, N. Richards, and others.

  A large number of members from the Cornubian Lodge No. 450 were also present to pay their last respect to the memory of an esteemed brother, and these included Past Masters W. Bros. W Wagner, H.   The coffin was of panelled English oak with. brass fittings, and on the plate was inscribed: "Clement Uren Whear, died May 29th, 1924, aged 68 years." The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr. Edwin Geo. Newton, Foundry, Hayle.
