In 1831 William Bickford took out patent on his "safety rods" and manufactured them in factory at Tuckingmill near Camborne; In first year his factory produced 45 miles of fuse, shows scale of mining, as only few feet needed for one blast;  Bickford died soon after this in 1834 just before fuse factory opened
