Biography
Maj.-Gen. Sir John Frederick Crease was the son of Captain Henry Crease. He married Frances Mary Domvile, daughter of Henry Barry Domvile and Frances Winnington-Ingram, on 8 September 1877.
He was a Naval Cadet in Scotland in 1855. He was First Lieutenant in 1866.
In Feb 1870 he was Captain in the RMA at Eastney, Southampton.
He was Colonel in July 1881, and C.B. Colonel 2nd Commandant in 1886.
He gained the rank of Major-General in the Royal Marine Artillery, and retired in 1891. He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) Civil Division in June 1902. At this time he was Inspector General of Hospitals and Fleets.
His second daughter was Marjorie Henry Gordon Crease (1885-1962) - clearly it was intended that she be a boy. She married Sylvanus Fox Lloyd (1881-1954)
